IF YOU EVEN NEEDED AN EXCUSE TO TRAVEL TO FIJI …
If ever you needed an excuse to travel to Fiji this could be it – well at least when the borders reopen! The Fiji Government have recently delivered a bold, forward-thinking National budget for the 2020/21 year and the tourists are the winners! The focus was clearly on the need to bring back jobs in Fiji, particularly those in the tourism sector that have been so significantly impacted by COVID-19. The Fijian Government’s decision, being dubbed by the media as the biggest ever tax cut in Fiji’s history, spoke volumes about its commitment to help the tourism industry reduce its overheads and respond competitively in their market re-entry. The elimination of 6% Service Turnover Tax, the reduction in the Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy from 10% to 5% and the reduction in the Departure tax by $100 are examples of these tax cuts. Additionally, the 50% decrease in excise taxes on alcohol will allow Fiji to be more competitive in pricing and improve consumers’ perceptions of the affordability of Fiji as a destination. So often as a Wedding Travel Specialist I am faced with offering an Asian destination instead of our beautiful Pacific neighbours, in particular Fiji, because Fiji has become too expensive. Well this decision could be the answer to all our prayers making the destination more affordable for you to explore and experience that dream romantic holiday, honeymoon or destination wedding.
Recently, I have been assisting to negotiate all-inclusive wedding packages to selected Fijian resorts as another response to Covid-19; contact anita@weddingtravel.co.nz for details
Sadly, nobody knows when the borders will be open but rest assured I will be ready and waiting for your enquiries when they do!
